If I could, I would have a ‘father and daughter’ design so that my kids could get a sense of what my dad goes through in terms of caring for me. I was born in the 80s when R. Kelly became a top national star, and the years that followed were very tumultuous for gay people. I am a proud gay man and a proud father, and I am very thankful for that, and also grateful for the positive role models and positive messages that I was able to be exposed to in the 90s and into the 21st century.
